Report on the Operation in 2005 of Part VII of the Terrorism Act 2000

The Report, which deals solely with the Northern Ireland provisions within the Terrorism Act 2000, is uncontroversial. It concludes that overall the powers have functioned fairly and properly in 2005. The five year sunset clause on Part 7 means that it will finally lapse on 18 February 2006. Primary legislation currently before Parliament - the Terrorism (Northern Ireland) Bill - provides for the powers continuance.
