Health Protection Agency - Responding to suspect packages and materials: actions to be taken (27/09/2005)

Decontamination of people exposed to chemical, biological, radiological or nuclear (CBRN) substances or material - second edition (14/05/2004)

The central purpose of the guidance is to provide an agreed set of principles, common terminology, and a shared understanding of organisations' roles and responsibilities to help responders deal more effectively with releases of dangerous material.

Decontamination of buildings and infrastructure exposed to CBRN substances or material (13/05/2004)

The guidance is part of sensible contingency planning. The fact that we are issuing it does not mean that there is an increased risk of terrorist attack using CBRN materials. This document complements guidance by the Home Office on the decontamination of people and by the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs on decontamination of the open environment

ODPM Precautions (12/05/2004)

The guidance covers both naturally ventilated buildings and those with mechanical air circulation systems. The main emphasis is on commercial or public buildings rather than domestic dwellings, although the same general principles apply to all buildings.

Decontamination of the open environment exposed to (CBRN) substances or materials - Guidance (24/03/2004)

This guidance provides an agreed set of basic recovery principles and a shared understanding of the key issues that may need to be addressed. In order to provide further advice and assistance to those involved the government is actively considering the establishment of a national decontamination and recovery service.

Decontamination of the open environment exposed to CBRN substances or materials - Guidance text (24/03/2004)

The Government has published this guidance to help local authorities, and others with responsibilities for protection of the public, to develop practical strategies for cleaning-up the open environment in the event of releases of chemical, biological, radiological or nuclear (CBRN) substances, whatever their cause. It complements similar contingency planning guidance published by the Home Office

Decontamination of the open environment exposed to CBRN substances or materials - Figures (11/02/2004)

Includes figures for Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear decontamination for rural and urban areas.

Decontamination of the open environment exposed to (CBRN) substances or materials - Annexes (11/02/2004)

Annexes covering agent characteristics, waste management and decontamination

Annexes to The Release of chemical, biological, radiological or nuclear (CBRN) substances or material - Guidance for Local Authorities (01/08/2003)

Although the local authority will be represented at the multi agency strategic level at the Police Main Base Station, it will also need to be prepared to activate its own command and control arrangements according to its generic major incident procedures.
