Home Secretary announces Counter Terrorism Bill amendments

The Home Secretary has tabled amendments to the provisions in the Counter-Terrorism Bill on pre-charge detention.

The first document sets out the facts around the Government's revised proposal to enable the pre-charge detention period to be increased beyond 28 days in exceptional circumstances. 

The second is a diagram which explains the process in the proposal for extending the period of pre-charge detention.
